“What Kind of Servant are You?”

The central theme of the Bible is a person, Jesus Christ, who didn’t come to this earth to be served but to serve (Mark 10:45).

My question on Sunday will be directed to all who refer to Jesus as their Savior and LORD.  If I claim the servant of all as my LORD, then doesn’t it stand to reason my LORD’S example of service, to both God and people, should be reflected in my service too? Too many so called “servants of God” are in it for themselves.  They’re fair-weather servants.  Fickle servants whose service comes with strings attached.  Strings like convenience and notoriety. As a backdrop for Sunday’s message, I’ll be focusing on two more characters of Christmas – Joseph and Mary.  Take the time to read their stories as recorded in Matthew 1:18-25 and Luke 1:26-38, respectively.  Joseph and Mary were real-deal servants; servants who provide a wonderful example for all of us. Between now and Sunday, ask God to help you see the opportunities before you to serve Him and others.  In addition, ask God to fill your heart with faith so you will seize every one of those opportunities!
