“The Call to Serve”

If you are a follower of Jesus you have been called to serve! I like how Dallas Willard describes the spiritual practice of service.  He writes, “In service we engage our goods and strength in the active promotion of the good of others and the causes of God in our world.” Serving can free us from the resentments that are so common to our self-absorbed lives.  Serving can grow our faith and change our lives.  Serving can help us overcome our fears and sense of inadequacy.  Serving allows us to experience the power of God flowing through our lives. Serving is good for those who occupy lower positions in society and for those who occupy positions of influence and power.  It has a special way of liberating us from arrogance, possessiveness, envy, covetousness, and pride. This Sunday I’ll be speaking about on “The Call to Serve.”  We’re going to look at the familiar parable of the Good Samaritan.  I hope you’ll take the time to read Luke 10:25-37.  In addition, we’ll all have the opportunity Sunday morning to visit our FFC Ministry Fair which is going to be a lot of fun! I hope to see you here on Sunday as it promises to be an exciting day! pastor jamie
