“Facing Jealousy”

So what have we learned so far in this series?  We’ve learned that our hearts have enemies that want to weaken and destroy them. One of those enemies is guilt but it can be conquered with confession.  Another enemy is anger but it can be conquered with forgiveness.  There’s also the enemy of greed but it can conquered with generosity. This Sunday, we’re going to talk about JEALOUSY!  We’ll look at four things jealousy wants us to believe that are, of course, false.  Then we’ll look at three practical, concrete steps each of us can take to free our hearts from the insidious enemy of jealousy. There is a fable of two eagles, one which could out fly the other.  The low-flying bird saw a hunter one day, and said to him: “I wish you would shoot down that high-flying eagle.” The sportsman said he would if he only had some feathers to put into his arrow to make it fly straight and far.  At that, the eagle pulled a feather out of his wing and handed it to the hunter.  The hunter shot the arrow but it fell short of the soaring, rival eagle. So the jealous eagle pulled out more feathers to give the hunter so he could keep shooting his arrows.  After a while, the hunter aimed his bow at the grounded, featherless eagle and shot him dead.  You see in the end jealousy destroys the one who is jealous! I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.  Don’t forget Community Groups at 9 AM. pastor jamie
