Our Beliefs
To help visitors and members, we have put together a basic list of beliefs that members of Faith Family share. This list is by no mean all-inclusive, but hopefully it will present a basis of understanding.
Faith Statement
We believe in God’s Word
That the very words of the original Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments. We believe them to be infallable and inerrant, and that they are our final and absolute authority in every area of life and knowledge.
We believe in the Trinity
That there is one God, eternally existing in three co-equal persons: Father, Son & Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus Christ is God Incarnate
That He [Jesus Christ] was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and that He is both undiminished deity and genuine humanity in one Person forever.
We believe in the Holy Spirit
That He is a personal Being who convicts the world of sin; who regenerates, indwells, sanctifies, empowers, guides, baptizes and bestows His nature and gifts on believers; and who seals them eternally for God.
We believe in the Creation and Depravity of Man
That man was created by a direct act of God in His image, not from previously existing life. All of humanity sinned in Adam (the historical father of the entire human race) and thus incurred both physical and spiritual death; therefore, all have inherited a sinful disposition.
We believe in the Atoning work of Jesus Christ
that He [Jesus Christ] died as the substitutionary sacrifice for our sins and that through faith in Him as Lord and Savior, we are justified (declared righteous) before God.
Jesus
We believe Jesus is God
Upon closer examination, this man’s message, miracles and ministry point to something greater — He was the Son of God! As the Son of God, Jesus was (and is) humanities only hope for salvation and eternal life:
“that they [mankind] may know you [the Father], the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”
- John 17:3, NIV
We believe Jesus is Savior
If the world didn’t need a Savior, why did God send Jesus? According to the Bible, God sent Jesus to,
“free us from the power of sin and to retrieve us from the curse of eternal death.”
- Colossians 1:13, NIV
We believe Jesus is Lord
In addition to being the Son of God and Savior of the world, Jesus is also the Lord of all. Consider the following verse:
“Therefore God exalted Christ to the highest place and gave him a name that is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow… and that every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord…”
- Phillipians 2:9-10, NIV
We believe Jesus Lives
There are many confusing voices in the world today trying to define who Jesus was. But let it be clear — the Bible distinctly identifies not only Who He was but Who He is! Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Savior of the World and the Lord of All!
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”
- Acts 4:12
Worship
We believe worship is:
- about God not music.
- a lifestyle not just an event.
- active not passive.
- personal and corporate.
We believe worship is all about God. In too many ways worship has become more about music styles, opinions and preferences rather than about God. Simply defined worship involves what we do to bring God glory.
We believe every Christian’s life is to be an instrument of worship. Everything we do in the course of a routine day can in some way contain an element of worship. This, we believe, is what the Apostle Paul was talking about when he urged Believers to present themselves as “living sacrifices unto God.”
We believe worship should be uplifting and inspirational. We maintain an environment where people have the freedom to worship God in both Spirit and Truth. While some worshippers may lift their hands, others may not; this we believe is okay. We appreciate an environment of freedom where people can personally respond to the Lord’s leading without felling either restrained or coerced.
Our worship is genuine, passionate and heart-felt because we believe such worship pleases the heart of God. We believe worship draws us into the very presence of God and as a result of being in His presence, we are transformed more and more into the likeness of Jesus Christ.
