“Saying Yes to Repentance”

Over the past two weeks, we’ve learned how our “yes” to God is the key to abundant life!

Yes, provides an entrance to Eternal Life and an escape from the power of sin. On Sunday, we’ll see how a “yes” to God provides a road to repentance and personal revival.

I find it interesting that Jesus’ first sermon and His last were about repentance. What’s more, that we find Jesus preaching repentance in the opening chapters of the Book of Revelation as He inspects and corrects His church.

During my message on Sunday,  we’ll visit an Old Testament book that was written 800 years before the time of Christ. When the prophet Joel stepped on the scene, God’s people had just experienced a locust plague that had destroyed everything in its path. Like any good preacher, Joel used that current event as a means by which to present a Word from God.

In preparing for Sunday, I hope you’ll prayerfully ponder Sunday’s text from Joel 2:12-13 or, better yet, read the entire book (it’s only 3 chapters long).

That is why the Lord says, “Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.

I’m looking forward to sharing with you about the power of “yes” when it comes to repentance.

I hope to see you on Sunday either in person or online,
