“Sent by the Risen Christ”

The New Testament notes 12 post-resurrection appearances of Jesus. One of those appearances is recorded in John 20:19-23.

That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said. 20 As he spoke, he showed them the wounds in his hands and his side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord! 21 Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” 22 Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive anyone’s sins, they are forgiven. If you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”

In our service this coming Sunday, we’ll focus on four promises Jesus spoke to His followers as He sent them into the world to continue His ministry. His four promises can be connected to these four words: Peace, purpose, power, and proclamation.

Remember these important details about our services on Sunday:

  • Our early morning service starts at 7:30 AM at the Summit building. We’re planning to be out-of-doors, so dress accordingly and bring a blanket.
  • Complimentary coffee and donuts will be served after the early service at both the main building and the Summit building.
  • Morning worship will start at 10 AM.
  • Eight baptisms will be celebrated at the end of our 10 AM worship service.

Rejoicing in the Risen Christ,

pastor Jamie
