“Reach Forward”

We’re calling our opening 2022 sermon series – REACH. It’s designed to inspire all of us to extend our REACH in four directions – In, Out, Up, and Forward. On Sunday, I’ll be focusing on what it means to REACH forward.

Every believer has a right now, promised future in Jesus Christ, but to take hold of it, we must first let go of the sin, shame, and failure of our past. We must turn loose of what we’ve done, what was done to us, and who we used to be, to fully REACH our promised future in Christ.

The Apostle Paul gave us step-by-step instructions in how to overcome the past so we can live in our Christ-promised future. Listen to how he put it in Philippians 3:13-14.

No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. (emphasis mine)

Paul’s step-by-step instructions are three-fold. First, forget the past. Second, look forward to what lies ahead. Third, press on to reach the end of the race.

Notice this with me – before we can press on to reach the fulness of life with Christ, we must first forget the past.

I hope you can be here with us on Sunday to get 2022 underway. This is going to be an incredible year for FFC as we learn to forget the past, look forward to what lies ahead, and press on to REACH everything Jesus promises us in and through Him.

See you Sunday and watch for winter weather updates via CCB and Facebook.
