The Cast of Christmas: Anna

I stumbled across a story that was recorded – the original source of the story was unknown – but it was a story that captured my attention as I read it.

Two women who were having lunch in an elegant hotel were approached by a mutual friend who asked the occasion for the meal. One lady replied, “We are celebrating the birth of my baby boy.” “But where is he?” inquired the friend. “Oh,” said the mother, “you didn’t think I’d bring him, did you?”

Tragically, this is all too true in the day in which we live.  There are a lot of good things that are celebrated and that are associated with this time of year.   This season often brings families and friends together, discord is attempted to be set aside even for just a moment, and we give our best efforts and attention to celebrating all that Christmas has to offer.  But even those with the best of intentions, and the most innocent of hearts often celebrate without giving great thought to the one whom we are called to celebrate – Jesus Christ.

This coming Sunday in the second week of our series “The Cast of Christmas,” we will journey to Luke 2 where we find Anna – the aged, widowed prophetess who displayed for us the perfect response to the birth of our Savior.

I pray you can join us this coming Sunday as we look deeper into her response and how we can learn from her in the days ahead as we respond to the true reason for this season.

Grateful,

Pastor Brandon
