Pursuing Holiness
What do you think of when you hear the word “holiness?”
Some think of women with long hair pulled up in a bun, long skirts, and black stockings. Others may associate the word with certain prohibitions like smoking, drinking, and dancing. It’s always intrigued me how the list of prohibitions changes drastically from group to group. Others might associate holiness with unattainable perfection that only leads to discouragement about their personal sins.
Simply stated, holiness is to be morally blameless and set apart from sin and, therefore, consecrated to God. When one is holy, they are separated to God and their conduct matches that separation. Holiness isn’t first and foremost an action, it’s an attitude of the heart.
On Sunday we’ll begin a series of messages on the importance of Pursuing Holiness. I hope your plans include gathering with your friends at Faith Family this Sunday as we worship our holy God and encourage one another to pursue holiness.
