The Basics of Prayer
What do you think of when you hear the word “prayer?”
Some might answer “dry and boring,” while others would say, “thrilling and life-giving.” Another might say prayer is confusing and only for the super-spiritual, while another would tell how prayer is their lifeline to their Heavenly Father and the means by which they daily experience His presence and power.
The Christian life is marked by a few basics that all of us should be growing in. Things like serving, being a contributing part of the church, and sharing the Good News of Jesus with others. Another basic in the Christian life is prayer, and yet, too many followers of Jesus never grow in their understanding of or their experience in prayer.
This coming Sunday we’ll be starting a new series we’re calling Christian Basics, and the first fundamental we’re going to look at is PRAYER.
We’re going to consider what prayer is, why we should pray, what happens when we pray, what can hinder our prayers, and how to pray.
In prep for Sunday, I hope you’ll look up the two verses below and ponder how they presently relate to your life as a follower of Jesus.
Colossians 4:2 and 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Praying with you and for you,
