Sometimes the best conversations with friends and family center around the question, “Do you remember…?”  It might be some funny event that you shared.  It might be something that your grandmother always did or said when you were all together.  It might be a very hard and challenging time that you endured together.  Remembering can be a powerful tool in helping us stay connected to the past and grounded in the present.

Paul calls a young, strongly persecuted, but faithful church in Thessalonica to remember some key shared experiences. In our focal passage today, 1 Thessalonians 2.1-16, he reminds the church how he, Silas, and Timothy conducted themselves during their time together.  He urges the believers in Thessalonica to remember how childlike, motherly, and fatherly they were.  Paul also reminds them that what they were taught – the very words of God – was continuing to work in them.

Likewise, Jesus reminds us that He desires these same relational character qualities to grow in our lives with people both in and outside of the church.  I hope that you will join us Sunday as we unpack what childlike, motherly, and fatherly character look like and what the Holy Spirit uses to grow those qualities in us.

Being reminded with you,
