Sermon Synopsis

We’re all on a journey whether we know it or not. And we’re all heading somewhere whether we believe it or not. Some journeys end with joy while others end in sorrow. I want mine to end with GREAT joy. I believe, with ALL my heart, God has a destination in mind for my life. In addition, I believe He’s provided everything I need to successfully reach that God-ordained destination. I’m not talking about heaven (that’s going to be great, too); I’m talking about growing in the likeness of His Son, Jesus and fulfilling His will for my life. This Sunday I’ll begin Part II of the series “Signs of the Journey.” It’s hard to believe it was 5 years ago when I taught Part I. The series is built upon Jeremiah’s words to the exiles who were making their way back home. Consider Jeremiah’s directives for their journey. “Set up road signs; put up guideposts. Take note of the highway, the road that you take” (Jeremiah 31:21a). This Sunday we’ll take a look at the sign of the “intersection.” An intersection is where roads meet and cross. My journey has included a number of intersections but, as a follower of Jesus, there was one particular intersection that rocked my world. As a matter of fact, there was a collision of sin and grace that took place at that intersection that continues to shape my life today.
