Mission Possible: The Heart
Sermon Synopsis
In this sermon we take a look at Jesus words to his disciples after they are denied at a Samaritan village. He reveals to them their lack of understanding of the power of the Gospel and the mission of Jesus Christ. That mission is to save people of all nations and all tribes. The main question that each believer must ask themselves before they can begin to engage in God’s plan to reach the world is this, “Do I have God’s heart for the nations?” This sermon is part of an on-going series that will be revisited in the fall and potentially even next spring as Navs@CMU director Clayton Kreisel explores what God is doing among the nations and how he expects us to be involved in his mission.
Luke 9:51–56
51 When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem. 52 And he sent messengers ahead of him, who went and entered a village of the Samaritans, to make preparations for him. 53 But the people did not receive him, because his face was set toward Jerusalem. 54 And when his disciples James and John saw it, they said, “Lord, do you want us to tell fire to come down from heaven and consume them?” 55 But he turned and rebuked them. 56 And they went on to another village.
