Sermon Synopsis

This is message 1 in an 8 part series on Paul’s letter to the Colossians. In this opening message Pastor Jamie asks the question – “Are you a normal Christian or a nominal Christian?” He then goes on to highlight three components of “normal” Christianity as noted in the first 8 verses of Paul’s letter. At the end of the message, Pastor Jamie presents a prayer believers can pray asking God to help them move from “nominal Christianity” to “normal Christianity.” A copy of that prayer is available below. Dear God, I want to be a real Christian; an authentic follower of Jesus Christ. Forgive me of my disobedience. Forgive me for wanting things to be easy. Forgive me for not taking responsibility for my spiritual growth. I want to change! Lord, help me change! I know real Christians produce fruit that lasts. I want that to be said of me. I want who I am and what I do to honor Christ. I want to live only for Him. Lord, take control of my life as I step out to wholeheartedly follow You. In jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
