Where Does God want to Move in Your Life?
Don’t you just love family travelling songs? When our kids were younger, we’d sing songs like Old MacDonald Had a Farm, Skinny Marinky Dinky Dink, and Jesus Loves the Little Children. As they grew older, the songs changed but the activity continued. There’s just something about singing together as the miles pass under the car.
Believe it or not, the Bible contains some family travelling songs too. They’re called Psalms of Ascent, and they were sung by families as they travelled to Jerusalem for three annual holidays. There are 15 of these travelling songs and we’re going to look at one of them this coming Sunday.
Psalm 130 isn’t just a journey song, it’s a song that talks about movement – God’s movement in a person’s life. Specifically, how God moves a sinner to salvation.
Have you ever experienced a move of God in your life? Has God ever brought you out of one place and into another? In Psalm 130, God moves the psalmist from the depths of despair to the heights of praise. Now that’s a move of God!
Where does God want to move in your life? That’s the question we’ll consider as we gather for worship this weekend.
I hope you’ll prayerfully consider Psalm 130 before you make your way to church.
Still singing,
