Rooted

Around 64 AD, Paul wrote to Titus, appointing him as the overseer of the church in Crete. After Paul’s departure, a leadership vacuum left the church struggling, as some claimed to believe the Gospel but lived in ways that denied it. Paul confronts this in Titus 1:16, calling them disobedient and unfit for good works. His solution? Sound doctrine – teaching that is spiritually healthy and life-giving (Titus 2:1).

As you prepare for our time together on Sunday, I encourage you to reflect on these two passages:

“Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.” – Titus 1:16

“As for you, Titus, promote the kind of living that reflects wholesome teaching [sound doctrine].” – Titus 2:1

Just as a tree with weak roots is easily uprooted, believers without sound doctrine are vulnerable to deception. This Sunday, we’ll explore four positive results of sound doctrine and how we, as followers of Jesus, can develop it as a guiding foundation for our lives.

Still growing,
