Friday Focus - May 16, 2025
Serve God, Not Yourself
This coming Sunday, I’ll be talking about something foundational—not just to your walk with God, but to how you spend your energy, your gifts, and your life.
I’ll be asking this question: Who are you really serving?
At first glance, the answer might seem obvious. “Well, I’m a Christian—I serve God!” But sometimes, even when we think we’re serving Him, the truth is… we’re really serving ourselves—our pride, our need for recognition, our desire to feel useful or important. Everyone serves someone because we’re all wired to serve. It’s not if we serve, but whom.
We live in a culture that glorifies me-first living. Social media shouts, “Promote yourself. Build your brand. Put yourself first.” But Jesus calls us to something radically different. He says, “Deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow me.”
On Sunday, I’ll be talking about a better way. A higher way. A life that doesn’t revolve around self but is centered on the One who made us, loves us, and saved us.
